Pricing

Which price source should I use?

Updated
Where to find itScan result › Price tab › tap a price, or In a session › Scanner Results › Price Source

Price Source is one choice for the whole session, and it starts on Current Market: what sellers are asking right now, which runs higher and moves faster. 6mo Sold Average is what items actually sold for over the last six months, and it is the safest number to plan around.

You can switch between Current and 6mo sold right on a result in a session: tap a price in the New and Used table. It is the same setting as Price Source in Scanner Results, so it carries on to the rest of the session.

Most resellers price a buy decision on sold average and list closer to current market. If you are sourcing, start with sold average.

Whatever you pick, the table highlights the market price behind the number, the line under it names the source, and the info icon beside Priced from explains which market price and which condition adjustment produced it, so nothing is a black box.

Set your pricing market and currency

Updated
Where to find itIn a session › Scanner Results › pricing market

Prices differ by country, so VueBrick lets you choose your BrickLink pricing market right next to Price Source. Pick your market once and prices come from that country’s real sales, shown in its currency.

Each session remembers the currency it was priced in. That means an old session you open months later still reads correctly instead of silently converting.

Changing your market applies from your next session, so a session never mixes currencies. Continuing a session on another device keeps the market it started in. Whole yen and won prices show without decimals.

Grade an item’s condition

Updated
Where to find itScan result › condition chip. The New or Used default lives in Menu › Settings › Scanner

Tap the condition chip on a result to grade what you actually have. The grades run from New, through the boxed and used grades, down to Damaged, and the price updates the moment you change it. Each kind of item gets the grades that fit it: a part is New or Used, a minifigure skips the box grades, and a new set starts at New - In Box.

The picker lists every grade with a line on what it does to the price, which is handy when you are teaching someone else to sort a pile the way you do.

In a session, each new item starts at the grade you picked last, in its own terms: New on a part carries over as New - In Box on the next set. Settings decides whether sessions start on New or Used, and if most of what you buy is used bulk, making Used the default saves a tap on every single scan. Curious how a grade turns into a number? That is covered in how condition pricing is calculated.

Set your own price on an item

Updated
Where to find itScan result in a session › tap the price under the name. Or Activity › tap an item › Your price

Sometimes you know better than the market: a figure with a rare accessory, a lot you have already agreed a price on, or a part you always list at a round number. Tap the price under the item’s name on a result in a session and type your own, or open the item from Activity and fill in Your price.

In Activity and the item sheet your price carries a Custom tag so you can tell it apart from a suggested one, and it is the number used in your session totals and in every export. On the result, the suggested price shows beside yours. In Multi Scan review you can set a price on a row before adding it to the session.

Change the condition and the item goes back to the suggested price for that grade. Tap Use suggested to drop your custom price on purpose.

How condition pricing is calculated

Updated
Where to find itScan result › Price tab › info icon beside Priced from

Every Condition Price is two numbers multiplied together: a market price and a condition adjustment. Nothing else goes into it, and both parts are visible so you can check our work.

The market price comes from BrickLink, for the market you selected, in that market’s currency. Which BrickLink number gets used is your Price Source choice: the six month sold average, the current market ask, or whichever of the two is higher. New and Used market values are tracked separately, so a used grade is measured against used sales rather than against new asking prices.

The condition adjustment is a fixed percentage tied to the grade you picked. New sits at the full new market value. New w/ Damaged Box takes 85% of that new value, because the figure or set is untouched and only the packaging is not. The used grades step down in a strict order, from Like New through Good and on to Damaged, and no grade is ever allowed to price above the grade cleaner than it. That ordering is why Used - Like New always lands at or above Used - Good.

On a result, the New and Used table highlights the market price in use. Tap the info icon beside Priced from for the whole calculation: which market price was used, which adjustment was applied, and what came out the other end. The condition picker shows what each grade does to the price.

Two edge cases are worth knowing. If BrickLink has no sales data for an item in your market, VueBrick says the price is unavailable rather than guessing, and it will show the last known cached price while it retries. And if an item has no reliable used data at all, the used grades are calculated from the new value instead, which the explanation line will tell you.

Value is only half the story. Enter what the lot cost you on the End Session screen and VueBrick works out true profit and margin for the run.

From there, History shows profit per session and Analytics charts profit over time, so you can see which sources are actually worth the drive.
